Student Recognition Programs
Leadership Breakfast
Part of Jordan School District's 5-Year Strategic Plan includes six "Portrait of a Graduate" Pillars: Curious Thinkers, Responsible Teammates, Engaged Citizens, Empathetic Communicators, Resilient Lifelong Learners, and Creative Problem Solvers. Each month, selected students are recognized for exemplifying one of these characteristics and a Leadership Award is given during a breakfast celebration. We mail out (and send home letters) invitations to family to attend the event.

Kindness Awards (You've Got a Friend in Me!)
Each month, Principal Sassman and Assistant Principal Yancey come around to classrooms to celebrate kids being kind. Teachers select one student that has been particularly kind to their friends and classmates. Students receive recognition with a certificate in front of their peers, a prize from the "Prize Cart," and their photo on the "Wall of Kindness" at the front entrance of our school. This is also in conjunction with our school's theme this year, "You've Got A Friend In Me."

Smarty Tardy
Attendance at school is a key component to student success. Being on time is an essential life skill and we try to encourage kids to be on time as often as possible. To recognize students that attend school consistently and on time, we call a student number (1-30) each week and kids can come down to the office to receive a little tube of Smarties. It is quick, easy, and impactful. Many school in our District employ this incentive.
Pawtastic Tickets/Treasure Tower Tokens
All staff members are given an allotment of Pawtastic Tickets and Tokens for our Treasure Tower. Students can earn these by being helpful, kind, on task, following directions and rules. Students have a few options with these positive behavior support items. They can save up their Tickets and collect a prize automatically (5 Tickets) or they may put Tickets in the "Ticket Box" for a drawing on Fridays for the Prize Cart. If a student is given a Token, they may come directly to he office for the "Treasure Tower."

Walk to Read Star Charts
As part of our Reading Program here at Mountain Point, we have implemented "Walk to Read." Students are grouped by skills needed to become successful readers and to enrich those students looking to take their reading and comprehension to the next level. There are two criteria for filling up their Star Charts: Work hard and follow directions. After ten stars, students may come to the office to pick a prize from the "Reading Prize Box."
Caught You! Golden Ticket
There are moments in a day, when a student does something extrodinarily kind, helpful, and or beyod the call of a great student/peer. We want to recognize these students with the "Golden Ticket Award." It is reserved for special instances, and when a student is awarded, they bring it down to the office, where Mr. Sassman or Mrs. Yancey will make a positive phone call home with the student present. Kids are also able to choose a prize from the Prize Cart directly.
BIG PAW Class Award
Coming in January...more details to follow.
Birthdays
Every morning during announcements (9:05 AM), we finish by calling kids down to the office for a birthday treat. Students can pick a rubber Happy Birthday bracelet and a birthday treat. Simple, effective, and the kids look forward to this in the mornings (especially the bday kiddos). We make sure to call all birthdays, even summer and breaks!
